COLCHESTER United confirmed last night that Steve Bradshaw had been appointed the new chief executive, in succession to Marie Partner, who left the club on Friday.

The EADT broke the news of Bradshaw's imminent arrival in Monday's paper. He was previously the chief executive of the Colchester United Community Sports Trust, for whom he was involved for 14 years.

Bradshaw said: “It's a real honour to have been given the opportunity to lead Colchester United at this time, and I look forward to supporting Paul Lambert and his management team to achieve great results, while ensuring the long term viability of the club by developing a sustainable business model.”
