TWO of Colchester United's loan players made a favourable impression for the Reserves during yesterday afternoon's 2-0 victory over Northampton Town's second string.

Scott Vernon, who is on loan from Blackpool, capped a good performance with a goal, while winger Jamal Campbell-Ryce enjoyed 90 minutes of action following his loan move from Rotherham.

Both will be keen to figure in the U's big League One game against promotion rivals Brentford at Layer Road on Saturday, as will the Essex club's third loan player, Billy Clarke.

Youngster Charlie Moxom, who has returned from a long-term injury, bagged the first with a cross-cum-shot against Northampton in yesterday's Pontin's Combination fixture.

Target man Vernon then added a second from close range, following a corner.
