CLACTON let two points slip through their hands as the home side battled valiantly to secure a draw.

The Seasiders' defence of Nick Key and Mike Key saw little of the action with Gavin Underhay, Francis Sanderson and Jamie Roberts advancing to join the midfield of James Mead and Denzil Donovan. Up front Rik Coleman, Sam Hodge, and Rob Lukey huff and puffed up front unable to break the strong defensive shield.

Coleman made the break through from a well-struck short corner that found the corner for 1-0 which should have been enough to finish the game off, but when captain Carl Parkes was robbed in midfield the home side made the most of a rare adventure into the Clacton circle coming away with the equaliser.

Lukey played well down the right picking his passes well with Roberts and Donovan combining well down the left. Parkes fired in some good crosses that failed to find the telling touch and in the end Clacton had to settle for the draw as the home side, with the added impetus of helping their fellow club teams promotion chances, held out.

Next week Clacton face Chelmsford at Clacton Leisure Centre (2pm) hoping to get back to winning ways.
