SCOTT Vernon has no qualms about signing for basement club Colchester United, even though it was his two goals for his previous club Blackpool that sunk the U's 2-0 after Christmas.
“I said at the time that I didn't think that Colchester would get relegated, despite that defeat, and nothing has changed my mind,” said Vernon.
“If I didn't think that Colchester could get out of it, then I wouldn't have come. I believe that we have the quality players to stay up.
“I travelled down to Layer Road late last night, and didn't arrive until about 11pm. It was a good job that I had a clear run, without much traffic,” added striker Vernon, who goes straight into the squad for tomorrow's home match against Sheffield United.
