THE Suffolk veteran closed table tennis championships are taking place at the Britannia club in Defoe Road, Ipswich this Sunday.

Around 16 players will be playing for six titles.

Dave Cole, men's senior No.1 ranked player, is playing with several other top veterans including Andrew Warner, Andrew Dosher and Malcolm Collins down to play.

Cole is favourite for the over 40's singles title, while Ian Brown having pulled out due to personal reasons leaves Ken Lewis as the strong favourite for the over 50's singles title.

Peter Forham and Paul Packwood are two players likely to challenge for the over 60's singles title. Play starts just after 9am and will go on until late afternoon. Admission is free.
