LOWESTOFT Town’s Lubomir Guentchev – son of Ipswich Town legend Bontcho Guentchev – scored arguably the goal of his life in their 4-2 away win over Harrow Borough on Saturday
From inside his own half, Guentchev incredibly volleyed home the Harrow’s goalkeeper’s free-kick to break the deadlock in the 28th minute in their Ryman League Premier Division clash.
The keeper was left red-faced when chasing the bouncing ball into his unguarded net, as the 55-yard spectacular strike helped secure three points and keep the Trawler Boys in the promotion hunt.
The visitors doubled their lead soon after when Adam Smith curled a great free-kick around the wall after Michael Frew was upended, who himself made it three on 39 minutes with a fine finish.
Guentchev was part of the action again when excellently feeding Joe Francis to make it four after the break to clinch a comfortable 4-2 victory despite twice conceding late goals.
