Wapping II 4 Clacton 0

Clacton travelled to their favourite venue with a squad that was down to the bare essentials before the evening started.

Wapping had a strong full squad and the Clacton eleven were no match on the day. The Seasiders could feel hard done by going in at half time 2-0 down without Wapping playing on song at that stage.

The second half saw how hockey should be played with a goal which graced the sport. Wapping passed the ball via six or seven players ending with a simple tap in from two yards without a Clacton player getting close to a tackle. This was only possible because the passing was slick and no player needed more than two touches. The game can be summed up in the vision of the Clacton players clapping the goal.

The Seasiders didn't roll over without effort and it was the defenders that shone with Gavin Underhay, Daniel Hunn, Peter Wright, Jamie Roberts, and man-of-the-match Tom Blake showing great passion and composed possession.

Going forward Clacton failed to get good possession in the opponents half due to the strength and anticipation of the home side. Mike Key made some great saves in the Clacton goal and this was by far his busiest day of the season. Clacton's magic moment was when Mike Key successfully kept the ball out of the net when Wapping were three on one.

Clacton were not down heartened after suffering their first defeat this year, ending a five game unbeaten streak..
