We have to make sure this doesn’t happen again.
Ipswich Town centre-back Tommy Smith shared the frustration of the club’s supporters following Saturday’s 2-2 home draw with Huddersfield Town.
Having been 2-0 up with 20 minutes to go, the Blues ended up clinging on for a point – goals from Smith and Christophe Berra cancelled out by Nakhi Wells’ penalty and header.
It was the fourth game in a row that Mick McCarthy’s men had failed to see out a victory after taking the lead.
“It has happened far too often and it is something we need to address,” admitted Smith. “We have to make sure it doesn’t happen again.”

Thirteen points from a possible 15 in September saw McCarthy and Tyrone Mings named the Championship Manager and Player of the Month respectively. This time last week the team was unbeaten in eight. Now the statistic that jumps off the page is no wins from five.
“We have to try and put our finger on it,” said Smith. “We should be top six, but it is about putting the points on the board.
“When you have a look at how many points we should have and where we should be it is disappointing.
“Christophe had made it 2-0 and we should see the game out from there. They made a couple of substitutions and they caused us problems but we should have seen it out.”
McCarthy got involved in an angry exchange with a frustrated fan following the full-time whistle and, in his post-match press conference, called upon the club’s supporters to get behind their side during a tough period.
