DEAN GERKEN: Some top saves and got better at commanding area. Fully justified his manager’s faith. Grade: B+

BARTOSZ BIALKOWSKI: Started season well. Really unfortunate to lose place due to family bereavement. Grade: B+

LUKE CHAMBERS: Good games and bad, but looked like a bone fide right-back of late. Can’t remember last time a pacy winger has given him a torrid time. Grade: B-

TOMMY SMITH: Prone to the odd costly error, but arguably has been Town’s most consistent defender. Grade: B

CHRISTOPHE BERRA: Worryingly below par for a time, but been back to his imperious best in last few games. Grade: B

JONAS KNUDSEN: Adapted to English football reasonably well. Remains to be seen whether he can be as good as Cresswell/Mings. Grade: B-

JONATHAN PARR: Start disrupted by injury. Has always been ready when called upon. Victim of his own versatility. Grade: B-

PIOTR MALARCZYK: Big Polish defender did well at Old Trafford. Super goalline clearance at Forest. Grade: C+

JOSH YORWERTH: Welsh youngster impressed in League Cup and doing well on loan at League Two side at Crawley. Grade: C+

JOSH EMMANUEL: Broad-shouldered teenage right-back thrown in deep end at times. Swam instead of sinking. Grade: B-

AINSLEY MAITLAND-NILES: Teenage Arsenal loanee has certainly been no luxury. Shown grit as well as guile in the Championship. Added pace through middle. Grade: A-

RYAN FRASER: Flying Scotsman was easily the stand-out man before injury struck. Loanee Bournemouth winger has been missed. Grade: A+

KEVIN BRU: Injured in opening game. Definitely helped the midfield balance upon his return. Grade: B+

COLE SKUSE: Not his usual effective self for a while, but getting back to his understated, consistent best. Grade: B-

GILES COKE: Has always looked calm and tidy when called upon. Helps take the sting out of games as a sub. Grade: C+

JONATHAN DOUGLAS: Failed to catch the imagination early on, but has looked far better when the shackles have been off. Grade: C+

TOMMY OAR: Australian caught the eye at Man United, but then got concussed when his chance came in the league. Grade: C+

LARSEN TOURE: At times has looked out of his depth, at others he has looked the business. Grade: B-

FREDDIE SEARS: Four goals, four assists. Deadly on the last shoulder, selfless when asked to play wide. Grade: A

DARYL MURPHY: Lacked goals, confidence and usual physical presence for a long time. Slowly got back to basics though and recent hat-trick with do him wonders. Grade: B-

BRETT PITMAN: All-rounder has been as effective both as a sub and starter. Five goals in all competitions. Grade: A

DAVID MCGOLDRICK: Only shown brief glimpses of his class in a stop-start season. Grade: C+
