On-song Brennan Dickenson is convinced that Colchester United can make the League Two play-offs, after Saturday’s resounding 4-0 home win over Stevenage.

Dickenson broke the deadlock with his 11th goal of the season, on 11 minutes, as the U’s bagged all four goals inside the first 40 minutes to seal a 10th win from their last 12 home starts.

The U’s have cut the deficit between themselves and the top seven from five to two points, with five matches remaining.

“We genuinely feel we can get that top-seven place,” insisted Dickenson.

“We have self-belief. The manager (John McGreal) instilled that into us during the week – that we can still get into the play-offs.

“It’s a funny league, it’s so up-and-down.

“But we are a young bunch and we are confident. That confidence showed today. We’re just going to do what we can to get into that top seven. We are very positive,” added the U’s left-wing back.
