NEEDHAM Market manager Danny Laws says his side will ready for whatever is thrown at them on Saturday - whether that be wind, rain or stray footballs.

The Bloomfield Road-based side could have cruelly been denied progress in the last round of the FA Vase after a second-half goal against holders AFC Fylde was disallowed by the referee in bizarre circumstances. A group of children had accidently kicked a ball onto the pitch just seconds before Kevin Horlock fired home from a corner and, with the scores locked at 0-0, the strike was ruled out.

But Laws has built a 'deal with it' mentality into his players - and that they did - winning the tie and gaining revenge for their semi-final exit against the same opposition last year courtesy of Danny Thrower's cool 87th minute penalty.

“At Squires Gate (in the last round) the fans were a metre away from the pitch. You couldn't take a long throw and of course we had 'that' goal disallowed.

“People can use conditions and circumstances as an excuse as much as they like. Against Kirkley we struggled with the wind, but I think what do you want me to do, turn the wind off?”
