COLCHESTER United boss John Ward admitted that his side were over-powered during the final half-hour of today’s 2-0 defeat at Sheffield Wednesday.

Goals from defenders Rob Jones (62) and Reda Johnson (70) ensured a seventh win out of seven home games for the high-flying Owls.

The U’s actually started the game well, but they never recorded a shot on target throughout the whole 90 minutes.

“It was a hard final half-hour,” admitted Ward..

“Sheffield Wednesday are a very powerful team, but as I said at half-time, if we could keep being crisp with the ball, then we would create one or two more chances.

“We had a lot of possession in the first period of the game without really troubling their goalkeeper much.

“But then we got over-powered after about 15 minutes of the second period.

“We gave away too many set plays, and they came up with the artillery.

“They are a very strong team, and when they get ahead that lifts the crowd and their team.

“For the final 30 minutes we have been over-powered by a very good team,” confirmed Ward..
