It is a blow for me to miss the cup match at Watford - it's just hitting me now. It was touch and go whether I played or not against Palace as there's a bit of fluid on my hamstring and I haven't trained much. I don't think the plan was for me to play 90 minutes but it feels tight. I'm disappointed to miss the next two games but it gives my hamstring time to heal and that is one good thing.

The ref spoiled the game for us. I was about five yards onside, I was pulled back when I was on goal, the ref said I was being honest by not going down for the penalty but that's no good to me. I was nearly on the ground when I hit the ball.

It just constantly happened (the ref not giving us decisions), I was pushed in the back in the box in the second half, Sylvain (Legwinski) saw it but the ref said it would've been soft, but the guy's denying a goal-scoring opportunity. We're all bitterly disappointed to lose, it was a game we thought we could pick up points, but we're as disappointed as the fans are.

Town striker Alan Lee

We tried to pass the ball but didn't have enough belief in ourselves. Had we played with a quicker tempo, and had taken the chances we created first half, then we would have got something from the game.

Palace didn't have to work hard for their goals which is disappointing but that is why we are in the position we are in. We tend to switch off at vital times and it cost us again.

Alan should have scored, he feels it should have been a penalty though there didn't look much contact and the referee was on the spot and didn't give it. Had we scored in that period then Palace were there for the taking. Alan will be fined for the booking.

George O'Callaghan tried to make things happen for us when he came on. It was a bad tackle by Tom Soares and he deserved to be sent off. We then got lulled into playing long straight balls and we didn't have enough zip in our play and quality that was needed.

Town manager Jim Magilton

Ipswich had a couple of chances before we scored but once we scored we were going to go on and win. Ipswich always try to play and get the best out of the players they have but as everyone knows this is a tough league.

We tried to get Greg Halford before deadline day but didn't and we have Paul Ifill instead so I'm delighted for him to score.

In late December I was under pressure, no doubt about that, as we weren't winning enough matches.

Thankfully, we had a good finish to December and we have had a good start this year.
