Following the exits of Christophe Berra and Paul Digby from Ipswich Town, the Blues have been left with just three established centre-backs in their squad, Luke Chambers, Tommy Smith and Adam Webster.

There is no doubt manager Mick McCarthy will look to strenghten in that position during the summer, especially to fill the void left by the influential Berra, while Jonas Knudsen showed that he could fill in there, and do a decent job, at times this season.

If the season were to start tomorrow though, we want to know who you would plump for at the heart of Town’s defence.

Would you go for two right-footers in Chambers and Webster, revert back to the successful partnership of McCarthy’s first season in charge when Smith and Chambers formed a solid partnership, or go with Webster and Smith?

The other alternative would be to play all three of them in the cente, possibly with Webster as a sweeper behind his skipper and New Zealand international Smith.
