Speedway: Ipswich Evening Star completed their 2008 speedway team when they confirmed at the weekend that 24-year-old Pole Piotr Swiderski had signed for the club.

Swiderski began his British career with Peterborough in 2006, making 15 appearances for the Panthers. Lat year he featured in every meeting for Peterborough as they qualified for the Elite League play-offs.

He alternated between reserve and a second string position to finish the season with an average of 5.19. In his two appearances at Ipswich he scored six and four points respectively.

Ipswich captain and rider/manager Chris Louis welcomed the signing. He said: "This signing is good news as it gives our team a solid look.

"Piotr has scored well on some of the larger tracks in the Elite League and this will give us a more balanced team.

"Tobi Kroner will now start at reserve and that also must be of considerable benefit to us."

Ipswich , who have still to announce a number eight, begin their season in March with proposed home and away challenges against Premier League King's Lynn.
