IPSWICH Evening Star Witches have swooped to make a dramatic double signing for the 2009 Elite League season.

Popular Pole Piotr Swiderski is back, while young England star Danny King, a Witches asset, has rejoined the club after two seasons at Peterborough.

For Witches fans, the signings are sure to be seen in a positive light, with Swiderski, the Witches rider of the year in 2008, and 22-year-old King, one England's brightest hopes, two hugely exciting riders.

Witches rider/manager Chris Louis is delighted with the signings. “I'm obviously very happy,” he said.

“Piotr was a big favourite last season and he had a great year. Danny is our asset and we worked hard to sign him originally.

“He has had a couple of seasons away but wanted to come back this year and we wanted him back.

“And that is the most important thing, both riders want to ride for Ipswich.”

King left Foxhall two seasons ago vowing he didn't want to ride for the club again as he felt they tried to hinder his move to Peterborough.

It was a war of words the Ipswich management refused to get involved in as they always wanted to see King back in a Witches race jacket again.

“It's water under the bridge as far as I'm concerned,” King said last night.

“I've always liked the Ipswich fans, they have always been good to me. I'm an Ipswich asset and have kept in contact with the club throughout theses past two seasons.

“I'm a better rider now than the one who left two years ago and I know the Witches fans will see that.

“This is very much the right move for me.”

Louis added: “Danny has matured as a rider and a person and I am really looking forward to having him in the side next year.

“And what can you say about Piotr? He was simply superb for us last season.

“We are still talking to other club assets and we will be announcing more signings soon.”

Chris Schramm looks set to double-up with the Witches after signing for Premier League King's Lynn.

“Chris is very much in our thoughts for the season ahead,” said Chris Louis. “He needs extra racing and at Lynn he will get that.”
