Witham Town cruised to a big victory over local rivals Heybridge Swifts in a Ryman North encounter at Spa Road tonight.

A crowd of 312 were treated to a real goal-feast, with hosts Witham breezing into a 3-0 lead inside the first 40 minutes.

Ryan Charles broke the deadlock on the quarter-hour mark, with Tim Monsheju doubling the lead on 32 minutes and Nathan Koranteng adding the third just six minutes later.

The Swifts pulled a goal back before half-time, courtesy of Reece Grant (40), but Witham restored their three-goal advantage within two minutes of the restart, through Damien Green.

Charles celebrated his second of the evening, and Witham’s fifth,in the 55th minute, while George Cole (86) and Ade Yussuf (90) netted late consolations.

Witham have jumped two places in the table, from 14th to 12th spot, following their eighth home win of the season, while Heybridge remain five points clear of the drop zone.
