Norfolk Womens League Division One
Yarmouth II 1 Magpies Ladies IV 2
With a season best performance Magpies secured their first league win.
Magpies dominated possession in the first half, creating numerous chances and were unlucky not to score, with Mel Beevor and Sam Williams showing some superb, flowing attacking play.
Midfielder Lisa Kent got the opener for the away side midway through the half slotting into the corner from close range.
The second half saw more quality hockey from Magpies, Becky Ford, Lisa Kent and Becky Marshall running the midfield, the passing and movement positive and sharp, displaying the confidence within the team. Mel Beevor doubled the lead, another shot from close range, following several well worked short corner routines. However, the home side were not going to give up and got a goal back with a quality short corner strike, making the last few minutes nervous ones for Magpies.
Only brilliant defending from Ashleigh Rouse, Harriet Flat, Rosie Blackmore and Alice Nutbourne saved Magpies from conceding a late equaliser, with Vicky Blackmore in goal making some first class saves. A thoroughly well deserved win for Magpies, their effort and commitment simply outstanding.
Lets keep the wins coming!
