The players and officials from Ipswich Rangers, the Australian team set to face Ipswich YM’s under-16, arrive in the town next Wednesday evening.

The group of 22 boys, some of whom have never flown on a plane or travelled outside of Queensland, are coming to these shores thanks to nearly two years of dedicated fundraising by the players and their families.

The Aussie lads will also be playing games against Llandaff RFC and Walsall RFC and St Joseph’s College, as well as taking part in the RHS Suffolk 7s.

They will also take in a trip to Paris and a poignant visit to the Australian National War Memorial at Villers-Bretonneux, as well as a private tour of Twickenham, the home of rugby worldwide, and an opportunity to train with Harlequins RFC.

The game is being played at Rushmere St Andrew on September 29 with a 2.30pm kick-off. A full preview will appear in next week’s Love Rugby.
