The Icelandic had looked all set to join the Hammers' efforts to stave off relegation but Harry Redknapp looks to have gazumped the East Enders.
Gudjohnsen will move to White Hart Lane on loan for the rest of the season from Monaco, where he has failed to settle since a summer move from Barcelona.
