Battle on for best band title

TIME in a recording studio is one of the prizes on offer for those entering Riffed, Haverhill’s Battle of the Bands 2011.

Application forms are now available for the event, sponsored by the town council, which aims to give new bands the chance to play in front of big audiences with a full PA and lighting rig. There are also prizes for the runners up and audience’s favourite.

Nick Keeble, the town council’s arts and leisure manager, said: “This is a great event and we welcome applications from bands from Haverhill and the surrounding area. We hope to attract a mix of established groups who already have a following to play alongside new bands just starting out.”

Priority is given to bands based within a 15-mile radius of Haverhill and whose members are over 14. Contact Riffed: Battle of the Bands, Haverhill Arts Centre, High Street, Haverhill, Suffolk CB9 8AR, call 01440 712858 or e-mail for application forms.

They must be returned to Haverhill Town Council by 5pm on December 16, ideally with a tape or CD of the band.
