Clacton: Aerobatic team set for debut air show outing

A POPULAR aerobatic display team which thrills flight fans across Europe has been lined-up for Clacton Air Show for the very first time.

The Trig Aerobatic Team will bring a unique blend of classic vintage glamour and dynamic close formation flying that captures the spirit of aviation.

Their Pitts biplanes perform at air shows and private events throughout the UK and Europe and will be at Clacton on August 22 and 23.

The aircraft are flown by pilots Richard Grace and Dave Puleston, who offer all the smoke and noise of a modern display with the character of the 1940s-designed Pitts special biplane.

Mr Grace said: “The Pitts is a great display aircraft, highly manoeuvrable with a top speed of 200mph.

“This allows us to fly a tight, compact display where the action takes place right in front of the crowd line.”

At times, the aircraft will be just five feet apart as they perform in front of thousands of spectators. Alan Goggin, Tendring District Council’s cabinet member for tourism, said: “While we like to make sure that we bring back many of the old favourites we also like to introduce new displays to freshen things up a bit.
