A NEW book on the English seaside includes some picturesque scenes from Suffolk’s coast.

The English Seaside, the latest book from English Heritage which is due to be published on May 27, is a photographic record of today’s coastline.

Among the seaside gems pictured in Suffolk are palmists and clairvoyants in Felixstowe, colourful beach huts, and the Tim Hunkin and Will Jackson’s Water Clock in Southwold.

Photographer Peter Williams visited more than 170 beaches in England, from Beaulieu to Holy Island and Ainsdale to Yarmouth, capturing over 600 stunning images of our rapidly-changing English landscape.

From helter-skelters to lighthouses, pirates, palmists and Punch and Judy, The English Seaside captures the juxtaposition of nostalgia and modernisation through architecture, people and landscape.
