Celebrity chef and TV star Rosemary Shrager is set to lead the line-up at the Newmarket Food and Drink Festival, which returns for its fourth year on September 15 and 16.

The free event takes place on Palace Street and the site of the National Heritage Centre for Horseracing & Sporting Art. This year it ties in with the 850-year anniversary celebration of Newmarket’s Market Charter.

Visitors will be able to sample and buy food from various local produce stalls, and there will also be a chance to sharpen up cooking skills with demonstrations from chefs from renowned restaurants across East Anglia, as well as Ms Shrager, of Ladette to Lady, School for Cooks and Soapstar Superchef.

Among those taking part will be the Tamburlaine Hotel, Cambridge, The Bedford Lodge Hotel & Spa, Newmarket, The Ivy Cambridge Brasserie, The Poets House Hotel, Ely and The Varsity Hotel, Cambridge.

There will be live music from local artists and bands on the Corkers Stage in Palace House Gardens. and Palace House will be hosting ‘Find out for a Fiver’ throughout the weekend.

Proceeds from the festival will go to this year’s charities, Racing Welfare’s Newmarket Housing Project, the National Heritage Centre for Horseracing and Sporting Art at Palace House, Newmarket, the Newmarket Day Centre and Newmarket Academy’s social mobility fund.

It opens each day at 11am and finishes at 6pm on Saturday and 5pm on Sunday.
