Sunday at V Festival 2017 started of just as good, if not better, than Saturday. The weather was beautiful.

The first act gracing the Supervenes stage on Day Two was Scouting For Girls. Despite only having a half hour set, the catchy pop group impressed fans with their classic singalong tracks.

Jay Sean was up shortly after. Why did the acts I wanted to see seem to constantly involve running back and forward from one stage to another? After a couple of musical performances, and lunch from one of the numerous vendors – from Chinese and Thai to Mexican and Caribbean street food – a change of scenery was needed.

Joe Lycett ‘off the telly’, as he described himself, was in The Glee Comedy tent early afternoon and to enjoy the (surprisingly hot) sunshine, I thought I’d sit just outside and have a little chuckle along. He started his stand up with my worst nightmare; picking on members of the audience to question and embarrass. I thanked my lucky stars I’d decided to sit outside where I couldn’t be found.

After teasing a poor lawyer about her job, and then a young teenage couple about their on and off relationship, he finally let the audience relax and listen to the comedy he had pre-prepared. You could almost hear the sigh of relief from those watching.

Joe’s set was laugh-out-loud. I’d seen him on the likes of Never Mind The Buzzcocks and 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown before, but never seen him hold the stage on his own. He does it well.

Joe Lycett was however, beaten as my favourite act of the day by possibly my favourite act of the whole weekend, Ellie Goulding.

The rock-pop princess completely dominated the stage during her hour performance. With so much energy, she ran up and down the stage, guitar in hand as she wowed her fans with not only her distinctive voice, but her ability to strum her way through an incredible guitar solo, too.

Probably the most anticipated act of the whole of V Festival was Sunday night’s headliner. With V Fest being the only European date on his whole tour, I’m really not sure how a festival in the East of England managed to bag a name as big as Jay-Z!

Now this isn’t a genre of music I’m particularly familiar with, but I knew I had to stay and watch. However, many people standing around us didn’t seem to agree. People were actually walking away after just two songs!

Jay-Z did keep people waiting for his set, starting at least 20 minutes late, despite arriving hours earlier. Performing a few tracks from his new album, a good handful of classics, I’m sure everyone else that stuck around were more than satisfied with the final few hours of their festival experience.
