Talented youngsters from two independent schools in Suffolk “performed beautifully” in their first joint performance together.

The Musical Scholars concert saw 14 Framlingham College students collaborate with seven from Orwell Park Prep School for a large audience at St Martin’s Church in Nacton.

“All the students performed beautifully and the standard from both schools was excellent,” said a spokesman for the event. “What was particularly pleasing to see – and hear – was the support given by the musicians towards each other as well as the generous applause from the large audience.”

The talented young musicians performed in a broad range of styles from the baroque sonatas of Scarlatti to the contemporary pop rock offerings of The Libertines. It was rounded off “in style” with a rendition of Goodnight Sweetheart sang by the students and staff.

The concert was organised by the directors of music at the two colleges, Tim Rhodes from Framlingham and Martin O’Brien from Orwell Park School.
