Missing People Choir and Matt Edwards miss out on final three of Britain’s Got Talent

Two acts with connections to Suffolk - Missing People Choir and Matt Edwards - made it through to the final, but just missed out on a spot in the final three.

Judges were impressed with both their performances earlier in the night.

Missing People Choir - of which Nicki Durbin, mother of missing Suffolk man Luke Durbin, is a member - had all four judges standing on their feet and the crowd cheering.

Amanda Holden said the choir’s rendition of With You from the film Ghost was “moving” and touching”.

She added: “I don’t understand how you are all standing, and standing so strong as well.”

While Alesha said: “I think right now in the competition, you are the ones to beat.”

Last night a picture of Luke, who went missing in Ipswich in 2006, appeared on the screen behind the singers as they performed live on ITV.

Ms Durbin said ahead of tonight’s final: “It just brought the whole missing community together.”

The Missing People Choir took to the stage after Stowmarket entertainer Matt Edwards, who started his routine by seemingly falling from the roof.

The 34-year-old started out with a few of his trademark “silly” faces, before correctly guessing the celebrity names picked by an audience member by burning a portrait of Ant and Dec into a piece of paper.

The judges were full of praise for Matt, and tipped him off for a successful future.

Simon Cowell said: “You are someone who needs a break, and I think you will probably get a break off the back of this and I hope the public vote for you because you deserve it.”

Amanda added: “You are so cute and so charming.”

Following the public vote, Matt Edwards came fourth and Missing People Choir was eighth.
