Latitude organisers have added more big names to this year’s line-up, from Oscar winning filmmaker Asif Kapadia to queen of teen literature Juno Dawson.
Kapadia, who won an Academy Award for Amy and a BAFTA for Senna, will be talking to top film critic Mark Kermode who’ll also host a live version of his Celluoid Jukebox radio show during this year’s festival.
Award-winning author and activist Dawson is part of the Women’s Prize for Fiction’s Who Owns the New Feminism panel.
She’ll be joined by prize co-founder and bestselling novelist Kate Mosse, writer, broadcaster, reviewer and classicist Natalie Haynes; Sunday Times best-selling author and co-presenter of The High Low Podcast Dolly Alderton and award-winning author and broadcaster June Sarpong.
Sticking with literature, Sunday Times bestselling author Matt Haig will give a special reading of Notes On A Nervous Planet.
Comedian Russell Kane brings his twisted BBC podcast Evil Genius to Latitude, where he’ll be joined by a panel of festival friends to delve into the darker, lesser-known sides of some of the world’s cultural icons.
Other spoken word and debate additions include Reggie Yates, Adam Kay, Sky at Night’s Professor Chris Lintott, Robin Ince, Sabrina Mahfouz, BBC Radio 3’s The Verb with Ian McMillan, Jack Rooke’s Love Letters, Modern Love and Table Manners with Jessie Ware and Adam Buxton.
Cutting edge contemporary choreographer Wayne McGregor’s dance company performs Atomos and a duet from their new show Autobiography. Old Kent Road make their Latitude debut, taking you back to the 1930s when dancers would improvise, jam and battle on street corners. The kings of Bhangra, the 4×4 dancers also perform.
Comedian Simon Evans brings his Edinburgh Festival sell-out show Genius.
Joining him are stand-up Sean Patton and English comedian of the year Brennan Reece.
Theatre-wise, Boys, presented by The PappyShow, explores manhood and there’ll be a visit from Showstopper! The Improvised Musical.
Latitude Festival returns to Henham Park from July 12-15, spanning music, theatre, dance, film, comedy, literature and spoken word.
