The King of the Jungle, multiple Guinness World Record holder, chef and regular ITV2 panellist brought his new stage show to town. Audience members expecting a conventional evening of cookery demonstrations were in for quite a surprise.

From the outset it was clear the evening was going to be more than just how best to cook your pasta, although we did get that too.

Dressed in black and walking on stage to AC/DC’s Highway to Hell, Gino used his cheeky Celebrity Juice persona - seasoned with a good dollop of sauciness - to immediately establish an excellent rapport with the audience and to set out his stall for the evening.

This was definitely going to be a show for grown-ups featuring colourful language, plenty of innuendo and adult content – oh and a bit of cooking too.

Luckily the audience was open-minded, ready for a party and was not disappointed; happy to lap up all of Gino’s banter.

The format of the show was an interesting mash-up of cookery demonstrations, a question and answer session and stand-up comedy.

Gino invited two members of the audience on stage to help him cook a series of his recipes - linguine with scallops and parsley pesto and the chocolate mousse looked particularly good - while at the same time his assistant Stuart took questions from the audience.

In between showing us how to slice veal and sear scallops we learnt that ironically he doesn’t watch TOWIE or Big Brother and would invite his Grandfather, Jesus, Noel Gallagher and Donald Trump to his dream dinner party.

It was an evening full of surprises not least when a couple, complaining they couldn’t see the action, were brought up onto the stage and spent the rest of the show sat on a comfy sofa, blanket over their knees, sipping Prosecco just inches away from Gino and his tight jeans.

What better way to end a cookery show than with a singalong? Accompanying himself on guitar, Gino sang a comic love song he’d written for his wife. We all sang along with gusto, it was that sort of night.
