Could there be anything more appropriate on the day before the US presidential election to be belting out “Letter from America” at the Corn Exchange?
Of course it’s not really about the US at all – but their powerful protest song about the loss of Scottish industry is as relevant now as it was when it propelled them to international attention a quarter of a century ago.
Twins Charlie and Craig Reid are still able to put on a fantastic show combining all their old favourites with some wonderful new material.
And the good crowd in the Corn Exchange lapped up their sound – Scottish folk-rock at its best. They showed once again that the Scots can bring us great sounds without inflicting bagpipes on an audience of Sassenachs.
