Organisers hope a Sea and Beach Festival on Clacton seafront will draw in the crowds next month.
The event will run from 11am-5pm on July 4-5, and be launched with a procession from the Town Hall at 10.30am on the first day.
Among the attractions will the Viking Saga, a flat-bottomed boat offering trips out to see, which has not been to the town in around 40 years.
Activities during the festival will include Punch & Judy, a sandcastle competition & steel band.
There will also be a party on Saturday night.
