There was good news this morning for the majority of East Anglia’s local arts companies with eight out of nine organisations in Suffolk keeping their status as National Portfolio organisations which means they keep their Arts Council funding.
The Theatre Royal in Bury St Edmunds was the big loser as they were dropped from the list.
The New Wolsey Theatre and DanceEast got a boost in their funding. Others who received the same level of funding or a slight drop were Aldeburgh Music, Eastern Angles, Gecko Theatre Company, HighTide Festival, The Robert Pacitti Company and Tilted Productions.
In Essex Colchester’s Mercury Theatre kept its funding as did the Colchester Arts Centre along with Firstsite art centre.
