Suzanne Vega, one of the top songwriters of her time, is due to appear at The Apex, later this month.

She is appearing at the venue on Thursday, June 28, as part of a six-date UK tour before she jets off for further shows in Dubia, South Africa and Italy before returning to the British Isles in July.

The 58-year-old American singer songwriter, musician and record producer, best known for her eclectic folk-inspired music emerged as a leading figure of the folk-music revival in the early 1980s.

Since her debut 25 years ago she has sold over seven million albums and has been nominated for seven Grammy awards.

Her song “Tom’s Diner” was used in the refinement of the MP3, earning her the nickname “The Mother of the MP3”. It has since been remixed nearly 25 times by artists including Will Smith, Tupac and Destiny’s Child.
