A talented young flautist at an east Suffolk school has received a distinction in a degree-level musical diploma.
Charlotte Poole, an Upper Sixth student at Thomas Mills High School in Framlingham gave her successful recital to become an Associate of Trinity College London (ACTL) in flute.
Richard Hanley, the school’s music director, said the qualification was “far beyond” Grade 8 level and showed a standard of playing not usually accomplished until university.
“She is very loyal in her extra-curricular activities,” he added. “She plays regularly with the school’s ensemble and the Suffolk Youth Ensemble and tours with both.”
Charlotte, 18, who has been taught by Debbie Rogers at the school since Year 5, intends to keep her flute playing a hobby and is hoping to study radiotherapy at university.
