Fireworks lit up the sky to mark the end of an “amazing” music festival after a dozen acts performed in front of thousands of visitors.
Organisers of Thorpefest 2016 said Saturday’s event was met with a “great reaction” from the crowd as they sang and danced into the evening. Thorpeness Country Club hosted the festival for the first time after the popular Music by the Sea outgrew its location by the White Lion in Aldeburgh.
An event spokeswoman said the new location proved a great success, with headliners Cold Place – a Coldplay tribute band – “really getting the audience moving”. “It was amazing,” she added.
The Dolphin Inn and White Lion provided food and drink for the festival-goers, with other local businesses sponsoring the event. It is expected to have raised around £10,000 for charity.
Peter Osborne from organisers TA Hotel Collection thanked the visitors and sponsors. He said he was looking forward to next year’s event, on July 8, when it is hoped there will be two stages of musicians.
