Bakers of all ages pitted their culinary skills against one another during a competition hosted by the UK’s last commercially working tide mill.

Finals day for the Great Woodbridge Bake Off Series Two saw contestants converge on the town’s Tide Mill Museum on Sunday to present their entries made using flour produced on site last month.

Peter Wright, of the award-winning Cake Shop Bakery in Woodbridge, assisted by his daughter Andrea, judged the best cheese scone, chocolate cake and wholemeal bread.

Nigel Barratt, of the Tide Mill, said: It is always lovely to see people using the Tide Mill flour and this competition has encouraged both young and old to test their skills – it is a testament to all the baking advice given at the Tide Mill bread-making demonstrations by Peter Wright that my fellow volunteer Bob Spillett won first prize for his wholemeal bread.”

Lilly Butler Mayer, 13, won the under-16 category for best overall baker and best cheese scones. Naomi Gornall was judged best overall baker and chocolate cake for over-16s.
