BRAINTREE Town midfielder Nicky Symons has scored an early contender for goal of the season during the Iron’s 4-1 win at Woking last week.
Symons picked up a loose clearance by Woking keeper Aaron Howe but still had a lot to do – collecting the ball inside the centre circle.
But a composed first touch to get the ball out of his feet allowed Symons to try the spectacular and Howe was helpless as a fantastic shot sailed past him from close to 60 yards out.
Our man at Kingfield, Carl Marston, compared the wonder strike to David Bekcham’s famous goal from the halfway line for Manchester United against Wimbledon in 1996.
While Iron boss Alan Devonshire described it as a “great bit of vision”.
