Take a look at the fun family friends events happening in Suffolk and north Essex this weekend July 21 and 22.

Jimmy’s Festival, Jimmy’s Farm, July 21 and 22

The annual celebration of music and food will return to Jimmy’s Farm this weekend. Acts such as Tom Lumley, the blue tones, Paul Young, Bessie Turner and more will be on the Wherryfields Main Arena and in Woodforde’s Kitchen there will be Jimmy’s Farm’s Head Butcher Jonny Farrell, BOSH!, DJ BBQ, Hardeep Singh Kohi and lots others. There are a variety of workshops to enjoy including pink gin tastings, a tequila masterclass and an educational workshop on bees.

It is a festival suitable for the whole family with the kids area, the wildlife park, being open from 12pm to 6pm. Here there will be non-stop entertainment for your little ones including circus skills, comedy, a butterfly house, animal painting and an ancient woodland to explore. Thomas Ridley are sponsoring the event and will be hosting food and drink workshops throughout the festival giving you a chance to learn from the best. Tickets are still available on the website and on the gate but it is cheaper if you buy in advance. If you are going for the day gate open at 11am both days, last entry is at 7.30pm.

KidzFest, Trinity Park, July 21 and 22

Returning this weekend for its second year is KidzFest, a fun festival full of entertainment for youngsters. Superheroes, princesses and mascots will be there, as well as dinosaur encounter, bouncy castles, a clown circus workshop, a puppet show and a magician. Guests can also expect pony rides, a petting zoo, fairground rides and facepainting among the other attractions. There will also be themed entertainment including an anti-gravity show, superhero trampolining and an appearance by world champion football freestyler Liv Cooke. Both days start at 11am. Kentwell Hall magic weekend, Kentwell Hall and gardens, July 21 and 22

Prepare yourself for a weekend of magic and mystery at Kentwell Hall. This popular children’s event will include withches, wizards, magic shows, owl flying, fairy crafts, wand making and so much more. There will be activities for the whole family to enjoy and try as well as the house and gardens being open for visitors to take a look at. All of the activities will go on whatever the weather, you can easily spend the whole day at Kentwell Hall as their is so much to do. You can buy tickets online or on the gate however they will be cheaper online. The day begins at 11am and finishes at 5pm.

Zulu nation theatre, birds of prey and mini-beast hunt, Africa Alive, July 21 and 22

There are lots of fun educational activities for you to enjoy at Africa Alive this weekend. The birds of prey show taking place will teach you all about the magnificent birds, you can also watch The Mighty Zulu Nation Theatre Troupe who have returned to the zoo after popular demand, the fantastic dancers will get you up on your feet. You will also want to make sure you fit in a minibeast hunt where there will be butterflies, dragonflies and marvellous minibeasts.

Sudbury’s popular Party in the Park will be opened by the talented Phoenix Suffolk Community Marchers at 11 am. They will be leading a dynamic procession through Belle Vue Park along with the Royal British Legion, Buglers from Stowmarket Boys Brigade Band and local Piper Tricia Drawbridge. It is a free event and is now in its 10th year, the aim of the day out is to raise the profile of the diverse range of clubs and groups in and around the town by providing demonstrations, workshops and competitions, along with the traditional summer fair attractions we all know and love. Visitors can expect martial arts, keep fit, exercise routines, children’s entertainers, climbing walls, bungee trampolines, punch & judy, and magic shows. This year’s new attraction is a classic nine-hole golf course which combines traditional mini golf with wacky obstacles. There will be a fantastic range of sweet and savory food stalls, and a bar serving both alcoholic and soft drinks. The day will be filled with fantastic live music all day with a wide range of local talent performing throughout the day.

Gamers are you ready?! Rapture Festival is returning to Colchester for the third time with its video games festival. It will be suited for the whole family with gaming tournaments, virtual reality, retro gaming, a rock band stage, indie games, cosplay competition, tabletop gaming, minecraft and more. It will be a celebration of all things gaming with special guests Flowdriver, CharleyyV, Joshbaked, Level up Leroy, Daniel Stride VLOGS and many other well known streamers. You can buy weekend tickets or seperate day tickets on the rapture gaming festival.

If you love songs from the musicals, you’ll enjoy this show by the talented junior members of FMT, with ages ranging from five to 13. Some of the more senior members are also taking part to support them. The show will feature songs from shows including Bugsy Malone, Hans Christian Andersen, Barnum, Blitz and Les Miserables, as well as songs like Summer Holiday and Yellow Submarine.
