A new dramatisation of the Quentin Blake book The Green Ship is to be performed at Woodbridge Library next month.

The play is part of a national tour by the Bristol-based group Librarian Theatre and tells a story about childhood, growing up, the desire for adventure and the power of the imagination.

The performance has been tailored to be told between the bookshelves.

Characters Alice and George are adults – but they become their younger selves as they relay the story. While on a family holiday, the two siblings climb over a neighbour's wall and discover a huge ship made out of trees and bushes.

They soon befriend old Mrs Tredegar, the landowner and ship's captain.

Throughout the summer they sail the seven seas together, visiting exotic places and having thrilling adventures.

The play will be performed on Saturday, May 18 at 6.30pm.

Tickets are £7 for adults and £3 for children and can be purchased online or in person at the library.
