This week the Great British Bake Off contestants were tasked to create an ornamental trifle terrine – but whose baking skills impressed Prue and Paul?

The budding bakers had four and a half hours to complete the challenge to produce a multi-layered taste sensation.

Former Army officer Sophie Faldo, who was originally from Suffolk, was crowned this week’s star baker, blowing the judges away with her ‘Rasperry, yuzu and white chocolate buche terrine trifle’.

Paul Hollywood said: “Sophie stepped up to the plate and created one of those bakes you want to go back to again and again and again.”

James Hillery from Essex was eliminated from the show after his Union Jack style trifle, named ‘The Missed Silver Jubilee Terrine’, failed to impress.

Leaving the Bake Off he said: “I wanted to do this to put myself up against really good bakers to see how good I was.

“To be part of that is really humbling.”
