Prizes have been awarded to students from West Suffolk College in Bury St Edmunds who created artwork for a special exhibition at a cinema in the town.
The Year Two graphics students produced work for the ‘Director’s Cut’ exhibition, which was granted showcase space by Abbeygate Cinema in Hatter Street.
The college students were asked to design a series of three alternative film posters on a film director of their choice.
The first prize was awarded to Tommy Aldea for Django Unchained with Molly O’Brien taking second place for The Birds.
Megan Pawsy (Tideland), Amy Corcoran (The Thing) and Eva Allan (Macbeth) were named as runners-up.
Stella Frangleton, supervisor, said: “I thought the standard was very high. Two things that stood out were the use of colour and the simplicity of the posters. Having a small but carefully chosen colour palette and not overloading the frame really helped to make the posters eye-catching and have clarity.”
The artwork will remain on display until the week commencing January 7.
