The Greatest Showman open air cinema, Christchuch Park, Ipswich , June 30

Get your picnic blanket ready because an open air cinema is coming to a park near you. Ipswich’s Christchurch Park will be showing the popular American musical The Greatest Showman this Saturday, June 30. The Greatest Showman celebrates the birth of show business, inspired by the ambition and imagination of P.T. Barnum. See the story of a visionary who rose from nothing to create a mesmerizing spectacle that became a worldwide sensation. The film stars Hugh Jackman, Michelle Williams, Zendaya, Zac Efron and Rebecca Ferguson. Gates open at 6pm and the film will start at 7.30pm and will finish approximately 9.30pm. You can buy tickets on the Ipswich Regent & Corn Exchange website. Please note the open air cinema will go ahead in the event of rain or poor weather so make sure you go prepared.

Top authors and book lovers will be welcomed to Felixstowe for this year’s festival. Now in its sixth year, the event has built a national reputation as a wonderful weekend of books on the Suffolk coast. Guests this year include BBC Woman’s Hour presenter, Dame Jenni Murray, Call The Midwife’s Stephen McGann, novelists Amanda Craig and Salley Vickers, and Sir Vince Cable with his explosive political thriller. Open Arms, and BBC producer, Oggy Boytchev with The Unbeliever, a tense Cold War spy novel based on true events, will also be there. Ickworth’s Country Estate Fayre, Ickworth House, June 30 and July 1

The Ickworth Country Estate Fayre will be taking place this weekend, it will be celebration of the skills and traditions of the Suffolk country estate. The day is packed with things to do and see from bee keeping, wood milling, a sheepdog trial, generating sustainable energy from the land, plant propagation and lots more. Visitors can meet the ranger team who will be talking about how they use timber from the Ickworth woodland to heat the West Wing with a sustainable bio-mass boiler, and on Sunday demonstrating how they mill wood, using a fallen Cedar tree from the front of the Rotunda. There will be lots of elements that celebrate the long history of sheep rearing on the estate as well as showcasing how the trust cares for its flocks today. There will be plenty to do for the whole family with a little kids (and big kids) zone for a storytelling village, 1930s games with Dramatic Impacts, Archery and traditional fairground rides. World’s longest inflatable obstacle course, Trinity Park, Ipswich, June 30 and July 1

An obstacle course which stretches over 1,000ft is coming to Ipswich this weekend. Thrill seekers have the chance to complete the world’s longest continuous inflatable obstacle course at Trinity Park on June 30 and July 1. The bouncing course, which is called the Labyrinth Challenge, stretches over 1,000ft, contains 30 obstacles and has five different zones. The zones are the jungle zone, toxic zone, combat zone, ocean zone and brand new for 2018 lava zone. You must be at least 10-years-old to complete the Labyrinth Challenge however there is also a mini version for those aged between 5 and 9. The inflatable wonderland is packed with things to do with 30 attractions and a dedicated village with fun inflatable challenges. You can enjoy volleyball, penalty shootout, crazy golf, wipeout stepping stones, Nerf wars, laser tag, a toddler playroom, bouncy castles and lots more.

Long Melford Street Fair 2018 is taking place on Sunday July 1. It will be a family fun day to enjoy in the atmospheric village with over 140 stalls in the line up. There will be bouncy castles, dance performances, live bands, a vast range of food stalls, craft stalls, children’s fair rides, tombola, raffles, cake stalls and lots more. Shops and pubs will be open and there will be shelter if it is to rain.
