Spring lunchtime concerts at the Theatre Royal

A series of lunchtime concerts at the Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds begin next month with The Reduced History of Jazz, featuring Jeffery Wilson on clarinet and saxophone and John Human on keyboard and piano.

Ports of call include ragtime, the blues, New Orleans, Chicago, swing, bebop, jazz, bossa nova and fusion, with anecdotes from the pair. It takes place on Thursday, February 7.

The duo are followed by The Kingfisher String Trio (Beth Spendlove on violin, Michael Dolan on viola and Christopher Slatter on cello) who will perform a programme of works by Schubert, Dohnanyi and Dancla, on Thursday, March 14.

And The Vega Wind Trio of Duke Dobing (flute), Charles Hine (clarinet) and David Miles (bassoon) round off the season on Thursday, May 2, with a variety of music including works by Haydn, Beethoven, Joplin and Villa Lobos.

The concerts all start at 1.10pm and include tea, coffee and cakes after the performances.
