From a children’s show about a cat with the loudest meow to Shakespeare’s Henry V, there is something for all ages at the Theatre Royal in Bury St Edmunds this month.

The Theatre Royal is pleased to welcome Freckle Productions back with their newest show, Tabby McTat. From the children’s book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler this is a show suitable for children and families of all ages. He’s a cat with the loudest of meows and a best-friend with a guitar, Fred. Together they sing their favourite songs delighting the crowds. Interwoven with original songs, Tabby McTat is a heart-warming tale of friendship and loyalty from the team behind Stick Man Live and Tiddler & Other Terrific Tales. Friday, October 26 until Saturday, October 27.

Then a sumptuous evening of piano and prose with one of internationally-renowned pianist Lucy Parham’s composer portraits, Rêverie – celebrating the life and loves of Claude Debussy, featuring narration by Alex Jennings. Acknowledged as one of Britain’s finest pianists, Lucy Parham applies her sensitivity and imagination not only to concertos and recitals, but also to portraits in words and music of such composers as Schumann, Chopin, Liszt, Rachmaninoff and in this case, Debussy. Alex Jennings is a three-time Olivier Award winner and has worked extensively with the Royal Shakespeare Company and National Theatre. Sunday, October 28 at 7.30pm.

Next, Shakespeare at the Tobacco Factory come to the stage with their production of Henry V by William Shakespeare. A divided nation. Trouble on the continent. An ambitious young prince. Emerging from his wild youth with a sense of purpose and adventure, Henry V wages war on France with devastating efficiency. But at what cost? How can he be a good leader and a good man? What compromises must be made in the name of victory? Shakespeare’s play is a thrilling examination of the nature of power, exploring the burden of leadership and exploding the myth of heroism.
