GARETH Barry has been ruled out of action for four weeks with an ankle injury to put his participation at this summer’s World Cup in doubt.

England boss Fabio Capello and his medical staff must now decide whether to include the Manchester City midfielder in his squad for South Africa.

City boss Roberto Mancini confirmed the extent of the injury.

“I feel very sorry for him,” said Mancini. “Gareth is a fantastic guy and a fantastic player.

“I hope he can play in the World Cup but Fabio Capello and his medical staff must decide.”
