An East Anglian motorsport club has defeated over 700 competitors to win a coveted national award.
Anglia Motor Sport Club (AMSC) has been selected as Motorsport UK's Club of the Year winner for 2022.
Established in 2013, AMSC was recognised for its pioneering efforts in enabling the development of new approaches and groundbreaking initiatives to break down barriers throughout the sport.
These initiatives include 'Better Together' which aims to make club motorsport more inclusive and accessible, as well as 'Get Into Motorsport' which seeks to make participation in motorsport as easy as possible.
Laura Cooledge from Ipswich, club development officer at AMSC said: "It is a huge honour to receive this award and to be recognised nationally for the innovative work that takes place in East Anglia.
"We are extremely proud of all of the motorsport activities that take place in our region and the groundbreaking initiatives that the club has championed.
"The award is an important acknowledgement of grassroots and club motorsport and has fuelled our determination to continue developing motorsport and securing its long-term future."
Miss Cooledge created the Better Together initiative with a number of other female role models in order to break down barriers and make the sport more accessible, particularly to get more women into the sport.
Since starting the initiative, they have ensured that all events provide female toilets and safeguarding changes taking place.
Dan Pearson, AMSC chairman said: "It's been a massive team effort and we'd like to thank everybody who contributed to the success of club motorsport in East Anglia.
"This award has fuelled our determination to continue developing motorsport and to secure its long-term future.
"Let's make motorsport accessible to all."
Hugh Chambers, CEO of Motorsport UK, said: "I would like to congratulate AMSC.
"Their work to expand their audience, engage with the community and be a positive promoter for greater inclusivity and accessibility to the sport and grassroots level is commendable."
AMSC will officially be honoured at Motorsport UK's night of champions ceremony on January 28 in London.
