A Bury St Edmunds law firm has donated more than £1,000 of food to tide Suffolk families over the Christmas period.
Ellisons Solicitors, which has a 40-year history in Bury St Edmunds, put out a social media message to businesses across the town asking them to help stock up their local food bank, Gatehouse.
Together, they donated biscuits, milk, tea bags, festive selection boxes and other essentials to help people during the period of freezing temperatures last week.
Ian Seeley, partner and chair of Ellisons' Corporate Social Responsibility Committee, said: "Food banks across East Anglia week in, week out give hundreds of food parcels to those across the town who need it most, with its volunteers consistently giving their time for free to help.
"As we are preparing for Christmas, many families are struggling and wondering how to put food on the table and presents under the tree.
"We hope Ellisons Solicitors food drive delivers some hope to families across Bury St Edmunds and we wish them, and everyone, a very merry Christmas."
Colleagues at Ellisons packaged the food up at their offices and gave out mince pies to thank the businesses who helped with their food drive.
