A road which has been shut since the start of the year could reopen by early next week.
Compiegne Way in Bury St Edmunds has been closed since December 31 after heavy flooding left the road impassable.
More than 300,000 litres have been removed from the road by Suffolk Highways in a bid to get the road reopened.
The authority revealed on Thursday the road could be reopened by early next week after another seven tanker loads of water were removed.
"Our teams have been able to remove most of the water from Compiegne Way today - another seven tanker loads," a spokesman said.
"On Friday, the focus will be on clearing the water from the pump chamber. We also have a team attending site to start clearing the debris and silt from the road, this will then allow us to assess the surface to see what repairs are required.
"New parts have been ordered to repair the control centre and a new pump, it is hoped that once the pump is replaced and the repairs to the road surface are complete over the weekend, the road could be reopened early next week."
The spokesman added the reopening of the road will depend on success of system repairs and weather.
