A Suffolk school has creatively put its own spin on the reality show The Masked Singer to celebrate World Book Day.

St Peter and St Paul Primary School in Eye organised an event along the lines of the television show where celebrities in masks and costumes sing with each one eventually revealing their identity as they are voted out by the audience to leave a winner.

In this vein, the school set up for the children “The Masked Reader” where members of staff read books and distorted their voices beneath a cardboard mask while the children are asked to guess who is who.

The children were asked to watch a video of their teachers.

The first teacher can be heard reading in a deep voice “this is the tale of a tiny snail and a great big grey blue humpback whale” which is the start of The Snail and The Whale by Julia Donaldson.

A second video was then played where all of the teachers revealed their faces to show the children who they had managed to guess correctly.

There have been many other playful celebrations for World Book Day across the county with students everywhere turning up in fancy dress for the day in literary outfits.
