Two young swimmers got into danger in the water off Walberswick beach last week.

The RNLI was called into action at 11.06am last Thursday and launched an emergency rescue operation from Southwold Lifeboat Station.

Fortunately, a fishing boat named Laura K was nearby to help rescue the swimmers.

The heroic crew on board the fishing vessel were able to rescue a 10-year-old girl using their life ring.

Meanwhile, the other young person was able to swim safely ashore.

The RNLI lifeboat crew then took over the rescue and the young swimmer was taken back to the lifeboat station in Southwold.

They then performed a quick medical examination on the young girl and reunited her with her family.

Southwold RNLI Helm, Bob Cooper, said: "Our thanks goes out to the captain and crew of the Laura K, whose timely response and quick actions with their man over board equipment, no doubt assured a good outcome."
